My Story: From Teacher to Digital Marketer

I’m Kris Robinson, a Search Marketing Specialist based in western North Carolina. I grew up in North Wilkesboro, earned my bachelor’s degree in Languages and Literature from Appalachian State University, and became licensed to teach Spanish and ESL.

My path into SEO started with a side project: a job board for teaching English abroad. It showed me how much organic traffic matters to being found. That led me to build KrisDoesEnglish.com, an ESL tool review blog that became my personal SEO lab for keyword research, content structure and on-page optimization.

From there I started helping local organizations, building and optimizing websites for Vision Baptist Church in Millers Creek, NBR Plumbing LLC and Accurate Books Solutions LLC. In January 2024 I began freelancing as an SEO consultant, delivering technical audits, keyword research, content optimization and link building for local service businesses. Those projects are in my portfolio.

In March 2026 I joined FreshRobot in Hickory, NC as a Search Marketing Specialist. Today I run technical SEO audits, build content and backlink strategy, manage about $8K a month in Google Ads spend, co-manage Google Business Profile listings and lead client meetings. I also build custom AI workflows with Claude to speed up research and audits.

Teaching still shapes how I work. I explain complex search data in plain English, and I never stop learning, most recently through the Semrush AI Visibility Essentials certification as search moves into AI-generated answers.
